Fume Collectors

Multi-stage smoke filter systems for welding fume, soldering fume, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and thermal process emissions from a single workstation to central hall extraction.

"Welding fumes carry toxic, sub-micron particles"

Thermal processes like welding, plasma cutting, laser cutting, soldering, hardening, casting generate sub-micron smoke carrying toxic components: chromium and nickel compounds from stainless steel welding, zinc oxide from galvanised material, resin aerosols from soldering. These particles are too fine for standard dust filters and too varied for a single-stage approach.

The consequences reach past health. Fine smoke settles on sensors, contaminates optics, and interferes with control electronics particularly in automated welding cells and laser systems, where particle contamination means rejected product and unplanned downtime.

The NAF Smoke Filter, built under licence from ULMATEC GmbH and manufactured in India, is a modular multi-stage system configured for the emission characteristics of your thermal process: a pre-separator for coarse particles and spark protection, a main cartridge filter for fine smoke, a HEPA after filter where sub-micron capture is required, and an activated carbon stage where gaseous components are present. Available from 100 to 250,000 m³/h, in seven sizes, from single workstations to central hall systems.

Smoke filtration is a legal requirement

Welding fume above workplace exposure limits is a regulatory breach, a health liability, and a quality risk. A specific smoke filter addresses all three at source.

Protects your people and your liability

Smoke particles from welding, plasma, and laser processes penetrate deep into the lungs and carry classified carcinogens like chromium VI, nickel compounds, zinc oxide. Compliance with TRGS 900 and DGUV 109-002 exposure limits is a legal requirement. A correctly specified NAF Smoke Filter removes the exposure and the regulatory risk together.

Self-cleaning for continuous operation

JetPulse compressed-air cleaning keeps filter resistance low and filter life long across the operating cycle. For oily or resin-contaminated welding, storage filters and optional pre-coating prevent filter blinding, extending service intervals and lowering cost per operating hour.

Multi-stage filtration for what smoke contains

Welding fume carries ultra-fine particles, aerosols, and gaseous components at once. NAF Smoke Filters combine a cyclone pre-separator, cartridge main filter, HEPA after filter, and activated carbon stage where each stage handling what the previous one passes, configured to your emission profile.

Key advantages

Multi-stage filtration

Pre-separator, cartridge main filter, HEPA after filter, and activated carbon stage each configured to your emission type, combined where required.

Submicron capture

HEPA stages capture particles down to 0.1 micron like nanoparticles, aerosols, ultra-fine metallic smoke at certified H13/H14 efficiency.

Storage filters for oily applications

For welding of oily or coated workpieces, specialist storage filters replace conventional cartridges, handling high aerosol and particle load without premature blinding.

Pre-coating protection

A pre-coating device applies a fine protective layer to the filter media before the process cycle, preventing blinding from oils, resins, and fine smoke, and extending service life.

Flexible installation

Vertical, horizontal, or split (two-part) configurations adapt to confined spaces, mezzanine installations, and production line layouts.

Range of sizes

Seven size classes, each matched to the air volume your process needs.

German engineering, for Indian Factories

The NAF Smoke Filter is built under a licence partnership with ULMATEC GmbH and manufactured in India.

Smoke filtration is a specialist field: welding fume, laser cutting emissions, and soldering aerosols differ from standard industrial dust in particle size, chemical composition, moisture, and gaseous co-contaminants. ULMATEC’s modular smoke filter architecture with storage filters for oily applications, pre-coating technology, and multi-stage after filter configurations was developed for those characteristics. NAF delivers that to Indian facilities: a system built for what thermal processes generate, at a locally accessible price, with local manufacturing, service, and spare parts.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need a HEPA after filter on a smoke filter system?

When the process generates sub-micron or toxic particles that the cartridge main filter passes CrNi welding fume from stainless steel (classified carcinogenic), ultra-fine laser cutting aerosols, medical or pharmaceutical process emissions, or any application where the finest particles are a health or contamination risk. Our team characterises your emission and advises whether a HEPA stage is required.

A storage filter handles the high aerosol and particle load from welding of oily or coated workpieces, where conventional cartridges blind prematurely. It is used in place of a standard cartridge for those applications.

A pre-coating device applies a fine protective layer to the filter media before the process cycle, preventing blinding from oils, resins, and fine smoke. It is recommended for oily or resin-contaminated welding; our team advises based on your process.

Yes. Systems are configured for automated welding cells and laser lines, where particle contamination affects product quality and uptime.
Eligibility depends on the schemes that apply to your facility. Our team can point you to the relevant requirements during specification.
